THE STORY OF HOW WE BEGAN…

AMICO’s Founder – Ami Bauer

In 1994 Ami Bauer left his corporate management career in retail. Not knowing exactly what to do next, he started mowing lawns and gardening, mainly as a fill in job till he figured out his future. Although a non-qualified gardener in Sydney, hard work and great customer service reaped its rewards almost immediately.

So starting with little more than a motor mower, a utility truck and business name (Ami-co) he set forth into his local suburbs and for the next few years Ami found the business rewarding and it expanded rapidly.

Realising there was really no barrier to entry in the category and facing numerous other ‘garden maintenance and lawn mowing’ owner/operator incursions into his territory he tapped into his previous corporate life in order to explore how he might go about differentiating his business from others and how they might provide improved and more competitive service to their customers.

Almost unwittingly, Ami soon re-positioned his business by creating customer ‘swat teams’.

Ami decided that putting his people together in ‘teams’, would not only make his business more efficient but would create a competitive ‘team’ approach within his small workforce and perhaps most importantly, would provide a real service-driven approach for his customers.

Instead of one Amico employee seemingly labouring in the customer garden for hours, the Ami-Co team would arrive on site, disperse where needed into the garden, work as a team where needed and have the job completed in a fraction of the time.

The perception (and reality) was a highly service oriented and professional ‘team’ who, with a minimum of fuss would be ‘in and out’ in no time at all – and the customer’s garden was looking like a picture.

The policy is simple. We do whatever it takes to gain and exceed client satisfaction.

Follow up service is second to none. We always says yes and answer phone calls and emails super fast, reply to all enquires and instructions urgently.
